When asked what made him want to tackle Jane Austen’s "Pride and Prejudice," first-time feature film director, Joe Wright, offered up this: "I felt Austen was writing the first piece of British realism."
And with some of her other novels having enjoyed recent celluloid reincarnation, the veteran British television director felt the time was right to resurrect Austen’s enduring take on love and social class.
